Silverstone Parking for the British Grand Prix: A Guide from Surrey
In short: Silverstone parking for the British Grand Prix is limited, sold in advance and can be a long walk from the gates, and the circuit offers no drop-off at the circuit itself. Its Park & Ride and train-station shuttles are the alternatives, with a Towcester Racecourse point for local residents; a chauffeur from Surrey follows that year's published drop-off arrangements.
The British Grand Prix is one of the few days of the year when getting to the venue takes as much planning as the ticket. Silverstone is a rural circuit in Northamptonshire, parking is tight, and the usual idea of being dropped at the gate does not apply. This guide sets out what the circuit itself publishes, then how a chauffeur day from Surrey fits in.
Can you park at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix?
Yes, but only in limited numbers and only if you book. Silverstone’s 2026 essentials guide says a limited number of official parking spaces are available around the circuit and must be booked in advance. The getting-here page goes further and recommends Park & Ride or a bus transfer instead, because the roads to the car parks become extremely busy.
Many of the car parks are on grassland. The circuit warns that some sit up to a 30-minute walk from the main gates, and asks drivers to allow at least an extra hour for the journey. For current charges and availability, use the official British Grand Prix getting-here page.
Can a taxi or chauffeur drop you at the circuit gates?
No. Silverstone states plainly that it does not provide a drop-off facility at the circuit. Instead it offers a drop-off and pick-up point at Towcester Racecourse, a short bus ride away, which it describes as an option for those who live locally. Tickets for that bus must be booked in advance, so buy them before the day.
The circuit’s own recommendation is to travel to one of its listed train stations and take the shuttle bus from there. For a car from Surrey, we follow the drop-off arrangements the circuit publishes for that year, so check its travel page when you book. Whichever applies, the last leg into the circuit is by bus.
How do the Grand Prix shuttles and Park & Ride work?
Silverstone runs shuttle buses from Milton Keynes, Northampton, Banbury, Coventry and Oxford Parkway stations, plus towns including Towcester, Buckingham and Brackley. Its Park & Ride sites are Sixfields, Hinton and Bicester. The official page says the buses set passengers down about two minutes from the Abbey and Brooklands entrances, which is closer than many of the car parks.
Park & Ride is sold as a bus ticket for each person plus a vehicle pass for each vehicle. Shuttle transfer tickets do not include a parking space. Buses run from 30 minutes before the venue opens and return until at least 30 minutes after the main stage activity ends; check the current year’s timetable before you travel.
What should you plan for on race day?
Plan for time, not just a space. The circuit asks every visitor to allow plenty of time, especially on race day, and to check the last train times for the return. If you are using rail, it points to National Rail for engineering works. For the 2026 race, drivers with parking also had to register their vehicle through My Car Pass, as ANPR cameras operate across the car parks.
Official coaches with National Express and Megabus drop a few minutes’ walk from the Luffield Entrance. Anyone camping or staying on site gets parking included with the official accommodation.
Is parking the same at other Silverstone events?
No, and that catches people out. Silverstone’s help centre says taxis can drop off at the track for events such as the British Touring Car Championship, and that parking for events like the FIA World Endurance Championship is bought separately per day. The no-drop-off rule and bus-only final leg are specific to the Grand Prix weekend.
If you are reading this for a different race meeting, check that event’s own page before assuming the Grand Prix arrangements apply.
How does a chauffeur day from Surrey to Silverstone work?
It is a long-distance journey planned around the circuit’s rules. Your chauffeur collects you from home, drops you at the official point you have chosen, such as a shuttle station with your bus tickets booked, and collects you from the same point after the racing, with waiting as agreed in your booking. Nobody in your party has to drive.
Booked as a driver for the whole day, the plan can include an early start, a stop on the way and a late return. We follow Silverstone’s published drop-off arrangements and do not claim any special access to the circuit. Our guide to long-distance chauffeur hire from Surrey explains how longer trips are planned.
Which car suits a Grand Prix group?
Choose by headcount and luggage. XLNC Cars offers four classes: Standard Saloon, Executive, VIP and Minibus. A couple travelling light fits a saloon, while an Executive or VIP car gives more room for a long day. A group of friends heading to the same pick-up point can travel together in the Minibus.
Remember that the final bus leg means everyone should carry only what they need inside; bags are restricted at the circuit, so check the current rules.
How do you book a Grand Prix chauffeur from Surrey?
Send us the plan: race day, pickup address, number of passengers, which official drop-off point you have booked and roughly when you expect to leave. XLNC Cars is based in Woking, takes bookings 24/7 and agrees one fixed fare before you travel, with no surprises afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a postcode I should use for Silverstone on Grand Prix weekend?
Silverstone's help centre gives the circuit address as Towcester, Northamptonshire, NN12 8TN. On a Grand Prix weekend, though, your route depends on how you are arriving: a booked car park, a Park & Ride site or a shuttle pick-up point each has its own directions, so follow the details that come with your booking.
Can I just turn up and park at Silverstone on race day?
Do not plan on it. Silverstone's 2026 essentials guide says the limited official parking spaces must be booked in advance, and the getting-here page warns that the roads to the car parks become extremely busy. If you have not secured a space, a shuttle, Park & Ride or a drop-off at an official pick-up point is the safer plan.
Where can a Surrey chauffeur drop us for the British Grand Prix?
At one of the points the circuit publishes, not at the gates, because Silverstone states it does not provide a drop-off facility at the circuit. Its Towcester Racecourse point is for those who live locally, so for a car from Surrey we follow that year's published arrangements, such as a listed shuttle station with bus tickets bought beforehand.
Do the shuttle buses run late enough after the racing?
The official page says buses leave the venue from early afternoon until at least 30 minutes after the main stage activity finishes. Timetables are published for each year, so check the current one, and agree your collection time with your chauffeur around the bus you expect to catch back to the pick-up point.
Do I need to register my car if I have booked Silverstone parking?
For the 2026 race, Silverstone asked everyone with parking to register their vehicle through My Car Pass before arriving, because ANPR cameras operate across the car parks. If a chauffeur car will use your booked space, check the current rules on registration with the circuit when you book, since the details can change each year.
Is Silverstone the same for Blue Badge holders?
There is a separate route. Silverstone says it has a very limited number of accessible spaces at one of the main entrances: you buy parking online, then email both sides of your Blue Badge, and the circuit sends an accessible parking pass to display with it. Apply early, as spaces are scarce.
Can the chauffeur stay with us for the whole Grand Prix weekend?
A booking can cover one day or be arranged day by day across the weekend, with collection at the agreed point each evening. Tell us which days you are attending, where you are staying and which official pick-up points you will use, and we quote one fixed fare for the plan before you travel.
