Wimbledon Tennis Parking: Pre-Booked Car Parks, Park and Ride and Taxi Points

In short: Wimbledon tennis parking during The Championships must be pre-booked, and there are no on-the-day sales except at the Morden Park park and ride. Southfields is the closest station, a 15-minute walk, and pre-booked taxis use designated drop-off and pick-up areas shown on the official map.

There is no turning up and paying to park at Wimbledon during The Championships. The official getting-here page is blunt about it: public car parking spaces must be booked in advance, and apart from the park and ride at Morden Park there are no on-the-day sales. That changes how anyone driving from Surrey should plan the day, so here is what The All England Lawn Tennis Club publishes, and where a chauffeur fits in.

Can you park at Wimbledon during The Championships?

Only with a booking. Because availability is strictly limited, public car parking spaces must be pre-booked, and Championships car parks do not sell spaces on the day. The official page currently says bookings for the 2027 Championships open in spring 2027, so check it early rather than relying on older advice.

Two further rules matter if you drive. Car parks close no later than one hour after the Grounds close, and overnight parking is strictly forbidden in every Championships car park.

The most recent official parking map (2025) marks Car Parks 6 and 10 as public car parks, with Car Park 10 beside Wimbledon Park Road and Car Park 6 on Church Road. Maps are republished each year, so check the current one before you book.

Is there a park and ride for Wimbledon tennis?

Yes. The Championships park and ride runs from Morden Park, on the A24 at postcode SM4 5QU, and it is the only place you can still pay on the day. It opens from 6.30am until 11pm, pre-booking is possible but not required, and the last bus leaves the Grounds at 10pm, or 10.40pm when late play runs on Centre Court or No.1 Court.

For current charges and booking details, see the official Wimbledon getting-here page.

Which station is closest to the Wimbledon Grounds?

Southfields, on the District Line, is the nearest station, at around 15 minutes’ walk. Wimbledon station, served by the District Line, South Western Railway and London Trams, is about 20 minutes on foot, and Wimbledon Park is about 25. A dedicated Championships bus also links Wimbledon station with the Grounds.

Station Lines Walk to the Grounds
Southfields District Line 15 minutes
Wimbledon District Line, South Western Railway, London Trams 20 minutes
Wimbledon Park District Line 25 minutes

One local bus route changes too: the 493 is redirected during The Championships via Bathgate Road, Queensmere Road, Parkside and High Street Wimbledon in both directions.

Where do taxis and private hire cars drop off at Wimbledon?

Pre-booked taxis use designated drop-off and pick-up areas marked on the official Walking to The Championships map. Taxi ranks sit at Southfields and Wimbledon stations, on Church Road opposite Gate 4 and on Somerset Road by Gate 12. Shared taxis with fixed fares also run from Southfields and Wimbledon stations.

On the 2025 map, the private taxi points sit at both ends of the Grounds: one near Gate 1 at the Wimbledon Park Road end, and one on the walkers’ route near Gates 10 to 12. The same year’s parking map also marks no-entry points for vehicles on Church Road, so follow the map rather than aiming for the nearest gate.

For the return, shared taxis back to Southfields and central London leave from Wimbledon Park Road (exit via Gate 1), and to Wimbledon station from the Somerset Road rank (exit via Gate 12).

Where is Blue Badge parking at Wimbledon?

Blue Badge parking for The Championships is in Car Park 6 on Church Road, and it must be booked in advance, just like the public car parks. The 2025 map also marks a separate Blue Badge drop-off point on the Somerset Road side of the Grounds, close to Gate 13, for passengers being dropped rather than parked.

Accessibility details change from year to year, so read the current accessibility guide on the Wimbledon site before booking.

How does a chauffeur from Surrey handle Wimbledon?

A chauffeur makes the booking question disappear. We collect you from home, drop you at the area that year’s official map shows for pre-booked taxis, once we have confirmed on the travel page that pre-booked private hire may use it, and return to the same point at a collection time fixed before the day. We follow The Championships’ published arrangements; we have no special access or gate permits.

Late play is the main variable at Wimbledon, so it helps to agree a realistic collection time and to keep WhatsApp handy if the day runs on. Families and groups travelling together can book the Minibus rather than splitting across two cars.

If you would like the car and chauffeur available all day, perhaps with a lunch in Wimbledon Village or a second stop on the way home, booking a driver for the whole day keeps both reserved for you.

Can a chauffeur collect you from Esher or Weybridge for Wimbledon?

Yes. Our Esher chauffeur service and Weybridge chauffeur service both collect from home, a hotel or the local station for a Wimbledon run, then use the drop-off point The Championships publishes for that year, once we have confirmed that pre-booked private hire may use its pre-booked taxi area. Nobody in your party needs a car park booking or a park and ride ticket.

For race meetings, golf and rugby elsewhere in the diary, the Surrey sporting events chauffeur guide covers the rest of the season, and chauffeur hire across Surrey sets out every vehicle class. You pay one fixed fare, settled before the day, and bookings are taken 24/7. To plan your day at The Championships, contact us with the date, your pick-up address and the number travelling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I turn up and pay to park at Wimbledon during The Championships?

No. The official getting-here page says public car parking spaces must be pre-booked and that Championships car parks have no on-day sales. The one exception is the park and ride at Morden Park, where pre-booking is possible but not required.

Can I leave my car overnight in a Championships car park?

No. Overnight parking is strictly not allowed in any Championships car park, and the car parks close no later than one hour after the Grounds close for the day. If you plan to stay late in Wimbledon Village afterwards, parking will not cover it.

What time does the last park and ride bus leave the Grounds?

The Morden Park service runs from 6.30am until 11pm. The last bus leaves the Grounds at 10pm, or at 10.40pm when there is late play on Centre Court or No.1 Court, so check the order of play if your match could run on.

Is there a Championships bus from Wimbledon station?

Yes, a dedicated Championships bus runs between Wimbledon station and the Grounds, and return buses leave from Car Park 1 on Somerset Road. Fares change each year, so check the current fare on the official getting-here page before you travel.

Where can I leave a bicycle at Wimbledon?

Bicycle parking for your own bike or a hire bike is in Car Parks 6 and 10. Bikes left anywhere else may be removed, and every bicycle is left at the owner's risk. The official parking map shows both locations in relation to the gates.

What if play runs late and our chauffeur is already booked?

Message us on WhatsApp as soon as you know the day is running long, and we will talk through moving the collection. Fixing a realistic pick-up time in advance, with the pick-up point written into the booking, keeps any change simple.
